Zoo Atlanta opens new Rhino Wild Encounter
The newest addition to Zoo Atlanta’s suite of behind-the-scenes animal experiences is an opportunity on a massive scale… the all-new Rhino Wild Encounter. The program, which will run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 1 p.m., offers a chance to meet and feed Mumbles, the southern white rhino at Zoo Atlanta, and learn about his care from a member of the Rhino Care Team. A Zoo Educator will introduce facts about southern white rhinos and their conservation in the wild.
The Rhino Wild Encounter is one of several opportunities to take a Zoo visit to the next level with up-close animal experiences. African elephant Wild Encounters are available now, and Lemur Wild Encounters return on 2 April. While Zoo Atlanta’s in-person Giant Panda Wild Encounter is not currently available, panda fans can now book a new Virtual Giant Panda Wild Encounter, featuring a virtual tour of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Giant Panda Conservation Centre, an opportunity to interact with a member of the Panda Care Team, and a chance to view a live training demonstration.
Spring also brings a favourite seasonal experience with the return of giraffe feeding. Giraffe feeding is offered daily, weather-permitting.
Zoo Atlanta is open daily with new protocols and procedures in place to promote wellness, including timed ticketing; hand-sanitizing stations throughout grounds; and signage and other aids to encourage social distancing. Masks are required for ages 2 and up for general admission and all in-Zoo experiences.
