NAMCO launches Mario Kart VR in central London venue

Bandai Namco Amusement Inc (BNAM) and Nintendo have launched immersive multiplayer racing game Mario Kart VR at NAMCO Funscape County Hall, located in a prime tourist destination on the South Bank. With impactful colour, race-track assets and LED lighting, it’s difficult to miss the impressive aesthetics now lighting up the main arcade zone.

It joins an extensive selection of games and activities including Bowling, Pool, Ping Pong, Shuffleboard and an escape room.

Matt Bradley, VR Project Manager for Bandai Namco Amusement Europe, commented: “This has been a particularly special project for us to have the opportunity to work alongside our sister company Namco UK Limited (NUK). With this as our second landmark Mario Kart VR location within London at NUK’s flagship store, it demonstrates the infallible interest that the UK has for this world-class experience.

“The usual set-up has had a total overhaul inspired by BNAM’s latest incarnation MAZARIA – their brand-new amusement facility in Toshima City dedicated to VR, anime and games.”

Trevor Sutton, leisure equipment controller for NUK, added: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing Mario Kart VR to our iconic location within County Hall on the South Bank. Mario Kart is an extremely popular IP which we are proud to be showcasing within this unique venue where visitors can expect a first-class service from our team at Namco Funscape. Over the coming weeks we also intend to extend our VR offering with more exciting titles planned.”
