Hungary’s first VR theme park opens in Budapest

Demand for VR experiences continues to grow, with the announcement of a new VR theme park in Budapest marking the latest opening. According to the Budapest Business Journal, it is the first virtual reality theme park in Hungary.

The 2,000 sq m facility is located opposite the Nyugati train station, and aims to bring a new form of entertainment to the Hungarian capital. Spread across three stories, the specifically designed VR theme park allows guests to free-roam between areas as they experience a number of different narratives.

The entertainment centre is located in the building of the former Szikra cinema, with five themed areas representing a different time and space and offering entertainment options for all ages.

Game narratives include a storyline based in the Egyptian underworld, in which visitors are guided through a path full of traps by Anubis, the god of death, as well as VR experiences of popular video games including Assassin’s Creed and Angry Birds.
