Double acquisition for UK coin-op company Essex Leisure
Essex Leisure, a leading UK supplier of coin-operated entertainment equipment and related leisure products – has completed the purchase of two fellow operating companies: F Simmonds and Sons and Wycombe Coin.
F Simmonds and Sons is a family business which supplies leisure equipment throughout the South West, including Bournemouth, Weymouth, Dorchester, Bristol, Bath, and all the surrounding areas, based from its Weymouth office. The purchase was completed by Essex Leisure on 1 November 2019. The purchase of Wycombe Coin, based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire was completed on November 18th.
“We are a family business and our family just got quite a bit bigger,” says Steve Hawkins, chairman of Essex Leisure. “We have retained all the employees from both businesses, including engineers and collectors. This brings quite a bit of talent to our company, not least with Brandon and Chris Simmonds – who have been the driving force of F Simmonds for a number of years. In addition, we are thrilled to welcome Graham Sweetland, who has been running Wycombe Coin. He has vast technical experience that will be invaluable with our move towards cashless and online connectivity. We would also like to wish Keith and Bill Simmonds and Mark Sweetland all the best with their retirements.”
“We are very pleased to have managed to complete the purchase of two companies in such a short amount of time,” adds Greg Wood – Managing Director of Essex Leisure. “We are now able to provide our excellent service to most of the south of England, with coverage into east Devon. Our size will enable us to continue offering a varied and up to date offering. With the advent of cashless payments on all most all products, this is a great opportunity for us all.”
