Derby FEC gets the go-ahead

Plans for a huge new family entertainment centre in Derby – featuring a Ninja Warrior course – have been given the go-ahead.

Adventure Play Solutions has been given permission by Derby City Council to transform the former KwikSave and Farm Foods building, in Allenton, into the new venture, which would create the equivalent of 34 full-time jobs.

The site will include climbing walls, soft play, adventure golf, laser maze, sensory room, an outdoor area featuring bubble balls, a health club and gym, cafe and party rooms.

Mark Knox, managing director of Adventure Play Solutions, said: “We’re going for a family entertainment centre which hits every demographic. This centre will have something for everyone – from the under-twos through to adults. We’ll have a health club, high ropes, soft play, a cafe, adventure golf – there really will be all sorts in there.”

The centre will be created within the 2,258 sq ft building and all 45 of the site’s parking spaces will be retained. The site will also boast the UK’s first course based on the Ninja Warrior TV show, in which contestants take on a series of tough physical challenges.

The Allenton course will be open to the public. Under the plans, performances of contestants would be timed and put on a leader board, with monthly prizes for the fastest time.
