API launches ‘Summer of Play’ campaign

As the UK eases out of lockdown, a increasing number of experts have called for ‘play not catch-up’ in the press.  the Association of Play Industries (API) is adding its voice to calls for a ‘summer of play’ as the way to help children recover from the last year of restrictions.

The API is planning a campaign starting this week to highlight how instrumental playgrounds will be in delivering a summer of play to children and we need your support. The importance of playgrounds can get overlooked when in fact, they are the prime location for children’s play. 1 in 8 UK households have no garden and without public playgrounds the children in those households would have nowhere to play. 9 out of 10 parents without access to a playground say that if they had a one nearby it would make their children play outside more.

To join in the campaign, like and share the API’s content on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, as well as the API Chair’s twitter content. Operators can also download the seven campaign images for their own social media. Don’t forget to link to the blog, tag API and use the hashtags #PlayMustStay and #summerofplay
