A mini Fortnite theme park scores big at Gamescom

Despite being over a year old, Fortnite – a battle royale-style game – drew a huge crowd at Gamescom in Germany this week. At the game’s booth, fans were able to check out an interactive Fortnite theme park constructed by developer Epic Games.

In addition to riding a slide, shooting baskets, having pickaxe duels, riding a mechanical rocket, and using a zipline glider, the park was stuffed full of references to the game. Fans who completed the obstacle course were eligible to win prizes, like in-game sprays.

With the popularity of eSports attractions and events (and merchandise sales) growing ever more exponentially, it might not be long before we see theme park zones dedicated to games like Fortnite – or even whole parks!
