Outdoor laser combat has Stockport in its sights

Stockport is set to get its first outdoor Laser Combat course when a new facility at Stockport Sports Village opens this month.

Life Leisure developed the outdoor course in the grounds of SSV in Woodley. Using the latest software, laser equipment and wireless headbands, Life Leisure’s Laser Combat is suitable for children and adults aged seven and up.

Outdoor laser combat is an active and engaging challenge that allows participants to get a hands-on experience in the great outdoors, enact battles, and shoot a laser at real-life targets. Participants wear camo-overalls and use guns that precision shoot laser beams at their opponent’s sensors. Ammunition is limited, and each player has a set number of lives, so teamwork, stealth and speed are essential skills to win.

The Life Leisure course has been specially designed to give groups of players a choice of standard or bespoke packages, including an exciting range of games – Death Matches, Tower Conquest and Zombie Hunt. Children’s parties, standard hourly and bespoke packages are available – all supervised by trained marshals.

Michaela Pennington, Operations Director from Life Leisure, said: “Laser Combat is a fun way to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. It also encourages participants to get active in an engaging way – it’s a perfect blend of challenge, physical activity and fun. We’re excited to be opening the first outdoor course in Stockport and have spent a long time designing and building what we think is a perfect course for all ages.”

Based on the grounds of Woodley Sports Centre, Stockport Sports Village opened as a new sports facility, following a £9m investment on the 23-acre site. The centre offers state of the art fitness, football and tennis facilities, including a 5,000 ft2 fitness suite and gym with the latest training equipment, 3G football pitches, Savannah grass tennis courts, aerobics and HIIT studios, sauna and a free crèche for members.

Laser Combat will be open to the public from late May 2018. Aimed at the leisure market it is perfect for children’s parties, birthdays, stag and hen groups and corporate events.
