Karachi Eye pops up in city’s first amusement park

What was once a market row in Karachi is now a bustling amusement park, and now, to mark Eid, Askari Amusement Park has welcomed a new attraction.

The park will open to the public on Eid day, and guests will be able to ride the new Ferris Wheel which takes its name from its classic counterpart in London. The Karachi Eye is 61m tall, boasts views of the whole city, and features 32 air-conditioned cabins that can fit four riders at a time.

“We tried to fill the gap of amusement parks in Pakistan,” said Shafqat Jafri, managing director at the park, who surveyed parks in Thailand, Dubai, and Malaysia before establishing Askari Amusement Park.
