Located in Durham, northeast England, Holmside Park have refurbished and refreshed thanks to a £500,000 investment. The park opened its doors on May 23, and offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities in Edmondsley.

Formerly known as Mini Moos, the new proprietors have brought a new lease of life to the venue, transforming a farm into a multi-activity centre with an indoor barn – resulting in the creation of 50 new jobs in the area.

“We are very proud to be part of the local community and being able to provide an excellent activity centre that will keep the whole family entertained whatever the weather,” said general manager, Terry Woodhouse.

“We have an amazing inside space for everyone to enjoy, and the attractions we have planned for outside will definitely bring something different to the area.”

Children aged 1-3 can enjoy an inflatable toddler area, and those aged four and up can take part in archery lessons, roller-skating, or an inflatable pole joust, and play on other giant inflatables. Holmside Park also houses a café where grown-ups can watch their little ones enjoy a soft play, arts and crafts, and dress up area.

On-site party packages are available, including party room and food, bear making, knife and axe throwing, and roller disco.

Whilst outsourcing manufacturing has become a popular and viable option for many companies in the UK, Holmside Park approached Britain-based Inflatable World for their giant inflatable obstacle course – and other purchases, ice cream machines and slush puppies, etc, are all locally sourced.

The site’s 50-acre size and existing customer base provided the perfect foundation for Holmside Park, who told Global Amusements and Play that locating a similarly sized plot of land in the lush Durham area would have proven a challenge.

Holmside Park’s aim going forward is to provide families in the northeast with unique days out that everyone, from one year olds to adults, can enjoy. Furthermore, the park’s commitment to the local community starts in schools; Holmside Park works closely alongside schools to promote fitness and offer alternative PE lessons at the park.

Terry went on to comment: “With continued upgrades on our outdoor facilities, we will still need to employ more staff from the local community. With local suppliers on board Holmside Park aims to be very much a part of this community.”
