CATERING: BALPPA seals food buying group deal

The Regency Group has been appointed as BALPPA’s approved food purchasing group.

The two-year deal will give Regency the opportunity to meet and present to well-known large UK attractions. Alton Towers, Legoland Windsor, West Midlands Safari Park, the London Eye and Brighton Pier who are all members within the Association.

The opportunity will also extend to the BALPPA sub- groups which include Indoor Play Centres & Family Entertainment Centres, Zoos and bowling centres.

Regency says it can typically save BALPPA members 15 per cent on their food and drink purchasing costs and sundries such as coffee, utilities and facilities.

Ben Hoskin, Regency’s national sales manager, said: “We are excited at the prospect of working with suppliers to develop the hospitality offering at, not only at some of the biggest and best-known attractions in the country, but to all of BALPPA’s leisure parks, piers, zoos, family entertainment centres (indoor play and soft play centres) and other visitor attractions.

“We have worked with BALPPA and their members for seven years. This deal is formalising that work, and means we will now be more involved in the strategy and development of the food and beverage offer moving forward.

“We have already engaged key brands such as Walls Ice Cream, Britvic and Mars, who have all committed to getting involved.”

He added: “It works well with us also owning the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare, because we do what our members do every day, which makes it easier to share operational practice as well as our wider, renowned expertise in procurement.”

BALPPA chief executive, Paul Kelly, added: “We look forward to working with the Regency team over the next two years to help our members and our association to make the most of food purchasing opportunities.”
